Dino Sofos, is the name behind the UK’s most successful news and current affairs podcasts. Deadline Hollywood said “he has had a mighty impact on the British broadcasting news landscape”.
Dino has brought some of the most high-profile and respected journalists into the podcasting space, including Emily Maitlis, Laura Kuenssberg and Jon Sopel.
During his fourteen years at the BBC, The Times said that Dino “ushered in a podcasting revolution”. He pioneered original formats, including the BBC’s Brexitcast, Americast and the daily Newscast - which amassed 85 million downloads under his tenure as Editor of BBC News Podcasts. He took Brexitcast to television on BBC One in 2019 - the first time that a current affairs podcast had been transferred to television.
He left the BBC in 2021 to set up his own production company Persephonica. Their first title was Dua Lipa’s podcast, At Your Service. Last year, Dino announced that Persephonica would be launching a new daily podcast called The News Agents, hosted by Maitlis, Sopel and Lewis Goodall in partnership with Global. It has quickly established itself as the most popular daily news podcast in the UK, having hit 24 million downloads in seven months.
The new prince of podcasts.
He has had a mighty impact on the British broadcasting news landscape.
Dino is a great speaker: warm, knowledgeable and really able to connect with an audience. He also took the time to chat with our attendees after the event and was incredibly approachable, which I know everyone appreciated.
